Ignorantics’ blog is on Blogspot.
DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?
Ignorantics (JLF): My Blog is about Ignorantics. Ignorantics is a term I coined to refer to speech, written or oral, derived from ignorance and the act of expression is the “antics”. My Blog posts are mostly about Ignorantics who butcher the King’s English. They can be casual or chronic offenders. In this blog, I will share stories and commentary about individuals who find themselves in either of these categories. Sometimes I will call a few Ignorantics out by name (ie., Mary J Blige, Sarah Palin, Steve Harvey, etc.) However, most of the time the stories that I share on this Blog are “REAL” stories but the names of the Ignorantics have been changed to protect the ignorant.
DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Ignorantics?
JLF: I picked this topic because I am an educator who is constantly being challenged by students, professionals, family, and friends who are lazy speakers. They use the same wrong language over and over again and folks just laugh at them instead of correcting them. The irony of ignoranticism is that deep down inside, the speaker really does know better but won’t change.
DCSME: How is Ignorantics different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?
JLF: I think that other blogs are more instructional. My blog tells stories in a humorous way and pokes fun at the Ignorantic.
DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?
JLF: It is therapeutic. It feels good to write about something that makes people laugh. Something that everyone knows about, talks about, but never really puts it out there for public discussion. Being a professor of Criminal Justice, there aren’t too many opportunities to laugh at crime. This Blog offers that release.
DCSME: How often do you update Ignorantics?
JLF: I like to Blog at least 2-3 times per week.
DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?
JLF: What I really like about my Blog is that it is interactive. My readers email me with words that they consider to be ignorantics and this enables me to share their stories as well. There never seems to be a shortage of material.
