Blog: Mind of a Diva

Jennifer Baker’s blog is self-hosted on WordPress.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Jennifer Baker (JB): Mind of a Diva serves as a vessel that’s redefining what it means to be a diva through the life and thoughts of a woman in her twenties. There is so much that we have to deal with as we make the transition from childhood into adulthood, and this is my story along with those of the people around me.

The word Diva has held many meanings, mostly it has described a woman how is bossy and has an attitude. While a diva may have those attributes, she is more than that. A diva is independent, strong, virtuous, and busy. With all of the things that she has going on she maintains her composure and makes it happen.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Mind of a Diva?

JB: I really go off of what’s going on around me with my friends, family, and myself or what I’m thinking about. I also like to pull topics from articles or books that I read that fit into what Mind of a Diva is about.

DCSME: How is Mind of a Diva different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

JB: I think that it discusses real issues and thoughts that young women experience. Young Women are not always concerned with celebrity news, social media, and other things that main stream magazines advertise. There needs to be more substance out there and about real topics and issues, and that what Mind of a Diva does.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

JB: I love getting out the words and thoughts that I have and putting them out there for the world to read. The most fulfilling part is seeing that someone else relates and understands where I’m coming from when they read my post.

DCSME: How often do you update Mind of a Diva?

JB: I update the site at least two to three times a week. Usually Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday.

DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?

JB: Mind of a Diva is about everyone woman seeing the power and beauty within herself. I want the website to be a place where women can find post that relate to them and what they are going through.

Blog: The Work at Home Woman

Holly Reisem Hanna’s blog is on WordPress.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Holly Reisem Hanna (HH): The Work at Home Woman is an award winning blog and business resource for women and moms who wish to work from home or become self employed. My mission is to help women and moms acquire the knowledge and skills to be able to successfully work from home or to become self-employed while providing support, inspiration and motivation.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for The Work at Home Woman?

HH: Since the day my daughter was born, I’ve been a stay at home mom, but after nine months of play-dates and mommy and me classes, I felt the need to exercise my brain and make some money.

I knew that I didn’t want to put her in daycare, so I started looking online for various work-at-home opportunities. Disappointed with the number of scams and lack of quality resources out there, I decided to create a free community, where women and moms could go to find legitimate work-at-home ideas and opportunities.

DCSME: How is The Work at Home Woman different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

HH: More than a website, The Work at Home Woman is a highly trusted online community where women and moms can come together to share ideas, obtain information and gather support. More than just a blog, we provide extensive resources, ideas, job listings and content. And more than just another online resource, we truly care about the success of our readers and advertisers and personally work with them to build successful outcomes.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

HH: I love the social interaction, I’ve met so many wonderful people that I would not have met had I not been blogging.

DCSME: How often do you update The Work at Home Woman?

HH: I update my blog 6 times a week, I take weekends off.

Blog: MissMeandI’s blog

LaShanta’s blog is on WordPress.com.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

LaShanta (LH): It’s actually “Random Musings from a Not-So-Random Me.”

It’s about thoughts, mostly relationship thoughts, that pop up in my mind that intrigue me so much that I have to put my thoughts in writing to actually sort all the thoughts out at once.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for MissMeandI’s blog?

LH: Well, my brain runs randomly, so I just thought “Random Musings” was a good title. It says “there won’t be any ONE general topic here.”

DCSME: How is MissMeandI’s blog different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

LH: I don’t know if it’s too different from others, however, I have noticed that the blogs I read on the same topics that I’ll write about are generally more “deeply thought” than I think. I tend to think in simplier terms, I guess. I mean, I feel deeply about the topics I discuss, but I’m not a “deep thinker” per se. My speech is simple. You won’t have to go running to a dictionary to figure out what I’m trying to say when you’re done reading one of my posts.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

LH: I like that I have the floor at all times. LOL I like that my thought process won’t be interrupted before I’m done saying what I’ve got to say. I also like that I have a chance to reach people I may not be able to reach in my personal life. I always feel that some one out there has to be thinking along the same lines I am, and are just not able to express themselves like they want. I like that I might be able to help them sort out their own thoughts.

DCSME: How often do you update MissMeandI’s blog?

LH: Well, I’m going to say regularly, but not on like a daily or weekly basis. I generally just update my blog when there is a pressing thought that I’ve GOT to get out. I think it’s fair to say that I update at least monthly.
