MA Blogger: Julio Ricardo Varela

Blogger: Julio Ricardo Varela

Blog: Franky Benítez

Julio Ricardo Varela’s blog is on WordPress.com.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Julio Ricardo Varela (JRV): We are the curators of #LatinoLit, a collaborative Twitter and Facebook community that celebrates Latino literary talent. We also discuss how social media helps us to promote our community. Finally, we also house FRANKY BENÍTEZ, the online #LatinoLit novel written by Julio Ricardo Varela. We are blessed to have a strong and loyal readership.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Franky Benítez?

JRV: We wanted to focus on Latino literature in the social media age and how artists create content in this arena. We also wanted to connect readers with excellent examples of quality fiction and poetry with the hope of getting our members published, although we also have several members who are accomplished authors already.

DCSME: How is Franky Benítez different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

JRV: We have a strong knowledge of Twitter and Facebook and how it can help you drive readers to your blog and keep them loyal and visiting each day. Our knowledge is how we use social media to keep our blog topical, relevant, and a destination for readers.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

JRV: The freedom to create content any time. We also love when we can share our fiction works and the works of other writers that we showcase. They get excited when they see the positive comments.

DCSME: How often do you update Franky Benítez?

JRV: We update it 5-7 times a week.

DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?

JRV: We are very excited to be promoting our novel and also sharing new Latino literature authors and poets. The writing we showcase is high quality, since we have a strong background in publishing books.
