Blog: Jactherat – Ephemera, lies & chocolate

Jackie Swift’s blog is on WordPress.com.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Jackie Swift (JS): I blog about writing and books, lifestyle and education; I include poetry, recipes and short stories. It is a wide ranging blog covering the many areas of life I am interested in. There’s (almost) something for everyone!

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Jactherat – Ephemera, lies & chocolate?

JS: I’ve been called Jac the Rat for a few years, as I was born in the Chinese Year of the Rat. It was also the label I used for dress making. I love the word Ephemera, it covers a wide range of sins, which I think links well to the range of topics I cover in my blog. We all love chocolate and we all lie. I am exploring lies and secrets as part of my PhD studies in Literature.

DCSME: How is Jactherat – Ephemera, lies & chocolate different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

JS: My blog is wide ranging, and deliberately so. I would feel too constrained by one area. There are other such blogs around, but I think my advantage is that I write from both the heart and experience. I try to be positive and life affirming, as well as using humour, which I think sets me apart.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

JS: I love the freedom to write what I am passionate about. I like responses from my readers and that my audience is growing all the time. I love writing and this is a great way to explore different topics, as well as refine and develop my writing skills. I love that you know you are being read.

DCSME: How often do you update Jactherat – Ephemera, lies & chocolate?

JS: I try to up-date twice a week – Saturday and mid-week. When I’m on holidays I blog more – my head is freer and I have more time, obviously.

DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?

JS: I’m completing a novel for my PhD, called Ophelia, watch out for it! I’m finalising a travel e-book for an English publisher. I currently have a collection of short stories available as e-book – entitled Life Happens

South Africa Blogger: Ivin

Blogger: Ivin

Blog: Authopublisher

Ivin’s blog is self-hosted on WordPress.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Ivin (I): I specialize in Self Publishing and post a lot of how-to material to help people publish their work. I cover freelancing and blogging as well. If you want to make money from home by writing, you need to read my blog.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Authopublisher?

I: I have published my own book in 2006 by writing it in 3 days and having it published and printed in 2 weeks. It was amazing. So when I launched my first pro blog, i didn’t quite know which niche/industry to enter. I chose self publishing, because I’ve done it and have experience in it. I can help other people do what I’m passionate about, write for a living.

DCSME: How is Authopublisher different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

I: I really don’t want to boast. So I’ll modestly say I haven’t seen a blog like mine in my industry. I strive to produce excellent content on a regular basis, stay on top of trends and I endeavor to be a leader in this industry in the years to come.

There are a lot of blogs, but few of them post regularly (I post 3-5 times a week), my blog encourages and facilitates the rewarding of comments through many different incentives. I want to build a community of friendly, helpful and open writer-publishers.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

I: The writing part of it. And of course feeling like a kid at Christmas when I install a new plugin or launch a new feature. I’m like a kid in a candy store. I have been blogging since 2006 but just recently went pro (doing it properly). I like the fact that there are so many blogs going up everyday but there are still ways to stand out above the rest if you are willing to sacrifice, give of yourself and produce immaculate content.

DCSME: How often do you update Authopublisher?

I: I update my blog at least 3-5 times a week. I like commenting on blogs because of the benefit of it. I get frustrated with blogs I like and people I admire when I’m posting a new post and want to do some comment promotion – realizing that they haven’t posted for a week or two. Anyone coming to comment on my blog will constantly find fresh content and will be rewarded for contributing.

DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?

I: I am a columnist, scriptwriter, blogger, internet marketer and a published author. I love serving other blogs by guest posting. So, if you want content in any of those fields, get in touch with me.

Blog: Creative Ramblings

Cendrine Marrouat’s blog is self-hosted on WordPress.

DC Social Media Examiner (DCSME): What is your blog about?

Cendrine Marrouat (CM): Creative Ramblings is about social media with a particular focus on independent artists and entrepreneurs, rather than big businesses.

DCSME: How did you pick the topic for Creative Ramblings?

CM: When I started my career as an independent artist, I quickly realized that the road to good exposure is paved with challenges. As I had no one to guide me in the right direction, I chose not to wait for success to find me.

I started doing a lot of research and actually enjoyed my finds. As I discovered Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and learnt to use other social networking sites, I realized that social media was becoming unavoidable.

When I had acquired sufficient knowledge on the topic, I started sharing through discussions with people. They advised me to start blogging, which I did. And now, I cannot live without it!

DCSME: How is Creative Ramblings different from other blogs that cover the same or similar information?

CM: My blog is unique in the sense that I offer a no-nonsense and honest approach based on my personal experience.

I like to create articles and tutorials that are easy for people to understand — something that I have enjoyed doing since my days as a teacher.

DCSME: What do you like most about blogging?

CM: I love the freedom that blogging brings. There is neither deadline no contract. I can write whenever I want and share my thoughts on any topic relevant to my niche.

Most people do not realize how important blogging is when it comes to building a solid reputation online.

DCSME: How often do you update Creative Ramblings?

CM: I try to do it four or five times a week. However, I also have three other blogs. Further, I hold six titles with Examiner.com, including Canada Social Media Examiner. So juggling with everything can be quite challenging…

DCSME: What else would you like to share with readers of your profile?

CM: Apart from blogging, I am also a freelance journalist/reviewer, published author and translator.

I am always interested in spotlighting independent artists and experts in the social media field, so contact me.
